Margo Frankel Woods in Des Moines is just south of Ankeny. The park has two playgrounds and a 2-mile hiking trail. There are seasonal restrooms near both playgrounds.
Margo Frankel has two gates, the first gate to the parking lot is locked all winter. The second gate is only open if the back shelter is reserved.
You'll see the first playground when you enter the park. The second is reached by walking on the road past the second gate, or hiking up the stairs pictured below.
