Thomas Mitchell Park, just east of Altoona, is one of our favorite places to creek walk. We park at the campground and then cross the red bridge. After you cross turn left and you'll soon see a dirt trail leading to the creek. Or you can walk a little further down to the stone steps.
We also hiked 2 miles on the DeVotie Trail, which connects the campground to the fishing pond. It's a nice hike and we saw many wildflowers today.
My kids enjoy the large playground at Thomas Mitchell. There's parking and restrooms near the playground.
