Easter Lake Park in Des Moines is where the last remaining covered bridge in Polk County is located. We visited today as part of the Polk County Chill Out Challenge and it was a beautiful day to do so after 9 inches of snow fell upon Des Moines yesterday.
The Owen's Covered Bridge was built around 1875 and moved to its current location in 1968. The bridge is on the southern lake shore along the Mark C. Ackelson trail which is a 4-mile trail that winds around Easter Lake.
