Dallas County: The Brenton Arboretum

The Brenton Arboretum in Dallas Center is a beautiful place to walk.  There are nine trails and a natural playscape.  Each trail is about half a mile, which is perfect for little legs.

My 6 year-old boys loved the nature play area.  There are tunnels, a swing and so many places to climb.  There are a few parking spaces near the play area, and then up the hill is a parking lot and portable restroom.  The pavilion is in the same area, and is a great shaded place to have a picnic lunch.

Nature Club is a program offered every other Thursday and is split into two sessions - one for ages 2-5 and one for school-age kids.  Today's theme was Iowa Amphibians.

Our last stop was the labyrinth.  There's a parking lot nearby and from there look for the sign pictured below because the labyrinth cannot be seen from the road.
