South Dakota: Corn Palace

The Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota is a strange place but it's a tourist attraction that's worth a stop when driving across South Dakota on I-90.  The building is decorated in corn and it's used for concerts and sporting events.  When we visited, the gym floor was covered in gift shop merchandise.  They offer free guided tours, but we didn't do a tour.

Across the street from the Corn Palace, is excellent ice cream at Corner Stone Too.

Also, across the street is another strange place called Valtiroty which attracted my boys' attention with their sign advertising a kids playground.  Thankfully, it's closed on Saturdays so it was easy to tell them we weren't going inside.
