Riverside Park & Ralph Mitchell Zoo in Independence, Kansas is an excellent place to stop while road tripping with kids. The zoo is small, but admission is free. It has a large playground, a 1050 steam locomotive, a carousel, miniature golf course and an
aquatic center.
