I typically wouldn't plan a trip to the Des Moines Botanical Garden when it's raining, but we had Iowa Adventure Passes to use today, so we went anyway and I'm glad we did. We started with lunch at Trellis Cafe, which has both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the gardens. The menu is limited but my boys both found options they liked.
Then we explored the indoor gardens, where my kids liked the little house to play in. Eventually, we made our way outside and the big umbrellas available to borrow were much appreciated.
