Madison County: Sunflowers at Badger Creek State Recreation Area

The sunflowers at Badger Creek State Recreation Area are planted by the Iowa DNR to attract mourning doves.  The locations can vary, so it's best to check the Food Plot Sites on the mourning dove page.  The 2022 map shows two field access points.

Today was our first time visiting Badger Creek and we enjoyed seeing the sunflowers so much that we made two trips there.  These sets of photos were taken about 4 hours apart on the east side (we tried the west side too, but parking was more difficult).  The area is beautiful, although sadly the sunflowers are near the end of their bloom time now.
