Wildlife Tree Decorating at Jester Park - Granger, Iowa

Jester Park offers some great activities for kids.  Today my son and I attended wildlife tree decorating where he made a popcorn and dried fruit garland, as well as a pinecone bird feeder to decorate the trees on a naturalist-led winter hike.

I was glad we wore boots as there was still a lot of snow on the trails, but it was 45 degrees which felt wonderful after last week's arctic weather.  During our hike, the naturalist mentioned that the pine trees at Jester Park were planted by the prior land owner who wanted "mountain trees."  She said they will be gone within 15 years because they're not native to Iowa.
