This is the time of year when I look for events to motivate us to get outside. Today that led us to a
candy cane hike at
Hickory Grove Park, just east of Ames. 137 candy canes were hidden along both sides of the trail and whichever group found the most won a prize. We didn't even get close, finding only 103 of the candy canes. However, my kids were happy with the hot chocolate provided after the hike.
