BOONE COUNTY: First Day Hike at Ledges State Park

The official Iowa DNR First Day Hike at Ledges State Park was too early for us, so we went in the afternoon and it was a great day for a hike.  We parked at the Flood Pole Lot at the bottom of Canyon Drive (which is closed in the winter), then hiked on both sides of Peas Creek for a total of 2.2 miles.

We saw many families with young kids out hiking, which was wonderful to see.  The only thing I don't like about hiking at Ledges in the winter is that there are no restrooms available (portable restrooms are removed at the end of November).
