STORY COUNTY: Winter Play Day at McFarland Park

We attended Winter Play Day at McFarland Park today, which was a really fun Story County Conservation event.  It started with a naturalist led hike.  Along the way, she had the kids play two games - one involved looking for walnuts and hiding them like squirrels and the other was hide & seek in the prairie.

We also went off the trail to build shelters.  The kids were told they could use anything that was down, brown and on the ground.  Afterwards, we went into the nature center for hot cocoa and to warm up.  Then we headed back outside for s'mores.  Restrooms were available inside the nature center and there were two portable toilets along the trail too.
