Reactor Woods in Ames has a great 3 mile loop trail called Peggy's Trail. With the beautiful 50 degree weather today we paired our snow boots with spring jackets. The hike is kid-friendly, but be aware that there are some steep hills and with the icy trail conditions today we were sliding around quite a bit.
To find the trailhead, turn north on Scholl Road from Ontario Street. Take the second right turn and go straight until it dead ends at a parking area. A friendly woman in the parking lot advised that we should start at the trail to the right of the sign, so we did the trail counter-clockwise but I noticed everyone else on the trail was going the opposite direction. There are no restrooms near the trail.
