WARREN COUNTY: Mineral Geocaching Adventure 14/25

We had a great day biking, hiking and geocaching in Warren County.  We found four more caches today that are part of the Geocaching Mineral Adventure and are now up to a total of 14 out of 25.

Today we tackled the stops that required bikes and first up was the Summerset Trail.  We parked at Summerset State Park and the cache was 1.8 miles each way on the trail.  I really liked the trail, it was peaceful and quiet once we got past the shooting range.

Next we headed to Zo-El Annett Woods, which has a 0.36 mile loop trail.  This is one of two locations that Warren County Conservation was unable to add to the Geocaching app, so you'll need to add the coordinates into a mapping app.  I used Google Maps and we were able to easily find the cache.

The cache at Blue Flag Marsh was quick and easy to find.  The marsh has a 0.4 mile out and back trail.

The Great Western Trail cache is just south of Blue Flag Marsh.  I was surprised by how far off the trail this one was and wishing I had worn pants as we walked through buggy long grass.

After finding the cache, we drove to the Cumming Trailhead for the Great Western Trail.  We biked north to West Des Moines, stopping at Cumming City Park to play and The Chicken for dinner.  Our food was excellent and I highly recommend dining there.  It was 2.8 miles each way from the trailhead to The Chicken.
