The Enabling Garden in Altoona has a cute children's play area including a sand play area, a kitchen area, a sand pit with trucks, musical instruments and tic tac toe.
There are picnic tables in the children's area, as well as a large covered area with tables in the middle of the garden. Parking is on the east side of Hy-Vee and there's a portable restroom near the parking lot.
On the west side of Hy-Vee is the Civic Plaza splash pad at Prairie Heritage Park. There's a paved trail that connects the garden to the splash pad, which is a 0.17 mile walk each way.
