Annett Nature Center - Indianola, Iowa

Annett Nature Center in Indianola has three levels containing interpretive exhibits, as well as hiking trails to explore.  They also typically have a Storywalk for one month each summer.  This year's starts June 1st and the book is Sassafras by Audrey Penn.

We hiked to the lookout tower today, which was one mile round-trip.  The trails were very soggy and muddy due to recent rain but it was still a nice hike.  I really like how quiet and peaceful the area is.  Just to be sure to keep the trail map handy because it's easy to get turned around on the trails.

While in the area, don't forget to visit Lake Ahquabi State Park which is just down the road.  The beach area and boat rentals have re-opened this year.  During our visit today, the beach was popular and quite a few people were swimming.
