Dewey Park - Johnston, Iowa

 

Dewey Park in Johnston has a new tree-themed playground for older kids and a separate older play area for little kids.  The park has a half basketball court, a large open field, two picnic shelters, and a 1/2 mile paved trail that loops around the park.  Just be aware that the loop connects through the middle of the parking lot.

Play Structures: Ages 2-5 & 5-12 

Surface: rubber chips (ages 2-5), rubber (ages 5-12)

Swings: traditional, toddler, saucer, plastic tire 

Restrooms: seasonal modern restrooms, portable available in the winter

Parking: large parking lot

I didn't take any photos of the little kid play area today.  The photos below are from our last visit in November 2024.  It's a very large play area and totally separate from the big kid playground.
