Kenefick Park - Omaha, Nebraska

 

Kenefick Park is accessed through Lauritzen Gardens' parking lot and shares the same hours as the gardens, however there is no admission charge.  Look for stairs in the back of the parking lot to access the park.  Once you climb the stairs you'll see two of the biggest locomotives ever to power Union Pacific Railroad.  

We had seen the trains when entering Omaha on I-80 many times, but today was our first time visiting the park.  I think it's well worth a visit, especially when added on to a Lauritzen Gardens visit.  My kids were disappointed that you couldn't go inside the trains.  They were expecting something more similar to the Railroad Museum in North Platte, Nebraska.
